Barrowlands
This is the doberman's danglies, the greyhound's gonads, the Jack Russell's family jewels and utterly and completely bitchin'. It ain't pretty, or even that clean, but it's let some of the best acts in the world - from the Flaming Lips to Radiohead - run riot on its stage and they just keep coming back for more. Glasgow music lovers flock here regularly, safe and warm in the knowledge that the acts are just as happy to be here as they are. It has charisma and legend by the barrowful, but as for landing, after seeing a gig here you're unlikely to come down to earth from that spot just above cloud nine for several days.
