Uisge Beatha
Uisge Beatha, as you would assume, is Gaelic. But, for those of you not able to decipher your "ciamar a tha thu's" – how are you – from your "tha gu math's" – I'm fine thanks – –it means "the water of life," whiskey to you and me. The exterior here is massive and leads you to expect a much bigger interior than is actually the case, or maybe it's just a little bit cosier than the imposing front would lead you to believe. Stuffed stags heads and a darkish interior are the order of the day, and all add to making this feel more like a pub in the heart of Auchtermuchty than the city centre. So if you find yourself with a gale force ten whirling its way up your kilt, with as much menace as some mythical Highland serpent, and frost bite forming on your booty, you can warm your sporran here.
