Pitcher & Piano
People get a bit sniffy about chains, but take the place on its own merits, and it's not too bad. The atmosphere is civilised, and tends to be largely student free. As the name suggest, you sit in the sophisticated presence of a grand piano, but you don't get any credit for playing it, even with my sparkling jazzed–up version of chopsticks. Bang on for a laid–back lunch and natter. HW £8.25, Pasta £6, £3.50 doubles
