Must-do May antics
Can't be bothered going out? If you need a gentle shove off the couch then here are a few events in Glasgow that will make you put those Pringles down and head for the door.
Maydaze 2008
A free, fun-filled day at Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket in the Merchant City. Stalls, arts, crafts, storytelling, talks from the Scottish CND, trade unions and featuring contemporary music from Dougie MacLean, La Sonera Calaveras, Arthur Johnstone and Gordeanna McCulloch.
Sunday 4th May, The Old Fruitmarket 12-5pm
Star Wars Part
Dress up as your favourite Star Wars character and make an idiot of yourself when trying to pull Darth Vader in your Ewok costume. Drinks from £1 and you can apparently win a trip into space. We doubt it, but as it's Campus you'll certainly see a few rockets.
Sunday 4th May, Campus, 396 Sauchiehall Street, (0141) 332 9052.
Dirty Pretty Things Carl and the boys will perform for your delight and your hard earned cash. One of many UK dates this year and promises to be a cracking show.
Wednesday 14th May, ABC Glasgow, 7pm, £15 (over 14's only) 300 Sauchiehall Street, G2 3JA. Tickets: 0844 847 2363.
Queens Park Farmers' Market
17th May 2008, Queens Park, Southside.
Take Away
An exhibition at The Lighthouse looking at the culture of takeaway food and the objects associated with eating on the move. An exhibition from the Museum of Design in Zurich, expect to see lots of boxes and disposable cups.
Runs until 8th June, The Lighthouse, 11 Mitchell Lane, (0141) 221 6362.
